JoshuaFranklin: Result & Score Card

Tonight, Anthony Joshua went the distance with Jermaine Franklin in what was exactly a fight to remember. Joshua came into this fight having lost 3 of his last 5 fights and fans were ultimately demanding a big performance (i.e. a KO). Unfortunately, AJ failed to provide the KO but did cruise to a unanimous decision in the end.

Franklin also did not put on much of a performance, despite his last fight with Dillion Whyte, were he had many fans backing him and thought he put on a performance that should have given him the decision. Joshua was the more dominant fighter but not in a way you expected. He had a good jab and did land a few big right hands but, nothing that exactly wobbled Franklin.

In a fight that was possibly career ending for Joshua, we certainly didn’t see anythng that would challenge many of the other branded heavyweights such as Fury, Usyk, Wilder, etc. Franklin did land some big shots of his own but they didn’t seem to bother AJ as much as what other fighters may have. Ultimately, it was a below par performance and Joshua will need to sharpen up more before fighting any of the previously mentioned heavyweights.
